Officials for the Virgin Island National Parks (VINP) are concerned about the effect Geocaching has on their parks. The officials appear to want to make things right and find a way to regulate caching. For the time being though, caches aren’t allowed inside of VINP boundries. This article serves as an important reminder. You can not just assume you have permission to place a cache! Public lands like parks are often regulated to protect the land. Even though it is public, you can’t just place caches there.

Recently the Game and Fish panel decided not to allow Geocaching permits on agency lands. Doyle Shook, Chief of Wildlife Management, stated they simiply aren’t ready yet.
Makes me wonder if permits will be required for placing caches or finding them.
Tonight I spent most of time working on usability issues. For example, now you can select multiple caches to delete or move to a playlist. Also fixed the navigation in the cache list, so the keyboard’s arrows can be used now. There was a bug when deleting caches from the main library. They didn’t get deleted from the Cachelist.
I’ll package up another release once I finish with the Preferences Manager (1/2 done).
The other day I had some time between client visits, so I set out to look for a couple of caches. The cache, GCPA29, was listed as a nano cache. This was my first one. Right before giving up on it, I accidently moved it. I thought the nano cache was a rubber screw head cover. Imagine my surprise!
The cache originally had no name, so I suggested “Ticker Tape!” (You’ll notice that it is now named, Ticker Tape…)
