# Vintage Turntable Repaired with Arduino (via pitface123)

element14 is running a [Design Challenge](http://www.element14.com/community/community/design-challenges/enchanted-objects "More about element14's Enchanted Objects contest") called [Enchanted Objects](http://www.element14.com/enchantedobjects "Design Contest on element14"). The idea is to add magic, or modern technology, into older objects, enchanting them. How could you turn an ordinary household object into something extraordinary?

You can see the [content intro video here](http://www.element14.com/community/videos/15132/l/Enchanted-Objects-Design-Challenge).

With my recent interest in retro-electronics, an entry by [Jan Cumps](http://www.element14.com/community/people/jancumps) caught my eye. He's repaired a vintage record player (turntable) using an Arduino and Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) control. For more information on his work, the [project page is here](http://www.element14.com/community/community/design-challenges/enchanted-objects/blog/2015/03/25/1958-turntable-from-the-black-forest--5-turntable-speed-sample-testbed-with-arduino-uno "Jan's Turntable Repair project Description"). Jan's YouTube channel is at [pitface123](https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC1en5h7BzrNp-qaPUHlnBbA "Jan's YouTube Channel").
